White wedding

We went to a wedding yesterday, which was the first wedding L and I attended together. This was the third wedding of a high school friend that I have attended. Even more unique was the fact that my mother was the officiant. She has been a Notary and Justice of the Peace for over 20 years now, performing weddings anywhere from her living room to a meadow. I didn't know a lot of people at the service, just my friend and her parents, her sister and her family, the groom and maybe 2 or 3 others. Both L and I were relative strangers but it was still nice. My friend looked beautiful, and everything from the service by the bay to the bride and groom riding to the reception in the back of a '57 black Chevy with flames painted on the side were reflections of them. I was pleased she took my suggestion of brown and turquoise as colors for the dresses, since it was strictly inspired by something I saw on Sex and the City. I suppose I was chuffed the most when she recognized me at the reception in a speech, noting me as one of her oldest friends.

L and I spent most of yesterday morning working on the fence which will enclose most of our yard. I think the dogs sense their future incarceration, but the fence will really add to their lazy lives. It will be a good thing. It's an item soon to be struck from my Wish List.

I recently finished reading The Invention of Hugo Cabret, and The Professor's Daughter. The former is not technically a graphic novel, but they both are visually gorgeous. I've just been on a roll with reading, so I am not complaining.

Some views of my garden this year:

1. I'm not sure I've ever seen you wear earrings that large. Looks like a cool place for a wedding.

2. Your flowers look beautiful. What kind are the blue star-shaped ones?

1. I've developed some fashion taste in the last 12 years.

2. The blue ones are called Balloon Flowers. They don't look like much until they bloom.
