Say my name...

Today I learned that my staff does not how to spell my name.

Granted, it's long and hyphenated but to not know how to spell their boss's name says 2 things to me: they do not respect me and they aren't clever enough to look in a staff directory to find the correct spelling.

I let the staff know that a colleague from another library might be coming to check out some titles while I was on vacation, and that she could do so on my card because she did not have one of her own. Library staff here look themselves up by name and not by the card usually. You search by last name first. My colleague did indeed come, found the books she wanted and brought them to the desk to check out. The person working then said that I did not have a card because they could not find me in the computer. My colleague then asked if another staff member she knew was here and checked the books out on her card. She came in today and let me know what happened. Embarrassing. WTF.

It makes me angry. How could they not know how to spell my name? I've had this name for almost 2 years. I of course have a card. My colleague did not know the name of the person on at the time, but I'm going to figure it out. I feel like I need to avenge my good name, and like Cartman on South Park, I want them to "Respect my authorit-ay!"

Haha, I thought they misspelled it on your welcom back banner. ;-)

Don't they even know the first letter of your last name? Couldn't they have found it in that section? Disgraceful.

Let's see, I think I know.

H-Y-P-E-R-H-E-R.

Ha! Got it. It's not like I was looking at how it was spelled on your blog or anything.
