Care

I finished watching When The Levees Broke tonight. It was 4 hours long. I like Spike Lee, and I have really liked some of his films (Crooklyn in particular). This film made me outraged, skeptical, disgusted with this country, and wondering who to believe. I think Spike Lee had many things right, but I wonder if he glamorized the role of Mayor Ray Nagin. Was he such a hero? It saddens me to think that 250,000 people, mislabeled as refugees, have been displaced and have nothing to come home to. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have moved to New Orleans, but what about the residents born there and displaced by Katrina? We spend billions in Iraq and can't help our own. That is what I got from the film.

I think Spike Lee makes good movies. I also think you are going to see things his way. I don't always agree with his opinion, but usually it's entertaining or makes you think.
