One of my goals for this year is to set aside money for a trip to England in late fall. It's been almost 3 years since I have been, and it's time to go back. I also am working on paying off some debt, along with a few other goals/resolutions.
Of course, it's easy to get distracted by things like Danskos
and books.
Conspicuous consumption is something I learned about in a college honors class. I read Thorstein Veblen, and Theodore Dreiser, but still I didn't learn. It's like my habit of buying yarn and fabric, but creating nothing in return. Now I'm on my way to paying off the debt I created with nothing to show in return.
